random; I was thinking recently how a king of antiquity must have had such a conflicting life. Certainly in Egypt where the king was the link between divinity and man. Most pharaohs would start their reigns with campaigns, invading those they colonised often just to show their power. I wonder if they ever thought about just being a man. How they coped with the smiting and battles and sacrifices. When you look at their mummies and think they were once living and breathing and cognitive just as we are this moment, it’s difficult not to wonder about them as people.
